I so had to laugh about this situation, that I decided to devote our first “non serious” blogpost to this…
After a long evening of programming, trying to figure out the variable/state/bug/whatever that kept crashing our wii version since yesterday in the afternoon, I finally found the variable I didn’t think about.
Reverting our code to revisions of the last few days didn’t solve the problem, so it couldn’t be something we changed in the script or the engine. But I should have thought about the chaos theory considering the choas on the table in our office.
To make development easier we’ve got a keyboard connected to our devkit… pressing space while playing the game freezes/pauses the scene to be able to inspect some visual details. The problem is, that trying to pause while it starts up, crashes the game. But why this error suddenly occured is what I didn’t find out until yet. It happened, that my NOE Media Summit pass got stuck in the spacebar of the keyboard, connected to the devkit, pressing it down all the time. Now tell me how to debug that…
At least this bug won’t be a thread any more for lotcheck
